How I started singing
I’ve loved singing since I was a child. I’d sing at any occasion that gave me a chance, and on some weekends I’d use karaoke to practice performing. I’d pretend I was onstage and sing as though an audience were right there with me. I still sing every day, trying different kinds of songs to keep my voice in shape and get better.
The story behind My Favorite Place
I wrote My Favorite Place for my husband. I was thinking about the first day we were together and imagining what it would be like to grow old side by side. In the music video, you see a couple go from being young together to being in their eighties and beyond.
The first time my husband and I watched it together, we both cried. We’ve watched it many times since, and seeing that young couple grow old together still brings us to tears.
What I hope you feel
If you and your partner have been together a long time, I hope the song brings back a moment that made you feel close. If you’re just starting out, I hope it makes you picture what growing old together could look like.
